Trezor Bridge — Secure Device Communication
Lightweight local agent that lets your browser / Trezor Suite talk securely with your Trezor hardware wallet.
Quick overview
Trezor Bridge is a small background application that creates a secure, local communication channel between your computer (browser or Trezor Suite) and your Trezor hardware wallet. Private keys never leave the device; Bridge only facilitates encrypted messaging over USB.
How it works
- Runs as a local agent on Windows / macOS / Linux and listens for requests from supported apps.
- When a Trezor is plugged in, Bridge negotiates a secure, encrypted channel so apps can request device actions (e.g., show address, sign tx).
- All sensitive operations run inside the Trezor device itself — Bridge only relays encrypted messages.
Install & update (recommended)
For most users the recommended path is to use Trezor Suite. Modern Suite releases include the necessary connectivity, and the standalone Bridge has been deprecated. If you still need Bridge separately (legacy setups), a standalone installer is available from Trezor's official assets.
Security tips
- Always download Bridge (or Trezor Suite) from the official Trezor website or trusted sources.
- Do not approve unexpected requests on your Trezor device.
- Keep your device firmware and your desktop/web app up to date.
- Verify installer signatures if you download standalone packages.
Quick troubleshooting
- If your browser doesn't detect the device, try restarting Bridge or installing the latest Trezor Suite.
- On macOS, allow the Bridge installer in Security & Privacy if blocked.
- Unplug/replug the cable and try a different USB port or cable (data-capable cable).
